About Us

Created in April, 2009 by the merger of PALINET and SOLINET and joined shortly thereafter by NELINET, LYRASIS is the nation’s largest regional membership organization serving libraries and information professionals. The primary service area is the Mid-Atlantic, Southeastern, and New England regions, but LYRASIS has members in many U.S. states and in other countries. Though large in scale, LYRASIS is known for its local touch - fostering collaboration and cooperation among members and facilitating their success through networking and programming, innovative solutions, and significant cost savings through group purchasing for products and services.

Benefits of Membership
LYRASIS provides libraries with the tools they need to serve their communities most effectively today and in the future. Members benefit from collaboration with peers from diverse institutions, increased purchasing power, and access to more industry experts and peer-to-peer solutions. With group discounts and consortial savings from more than 100 vendor partners, members maximize their budgets. As the premier technology advisor, LYRASIS offers members cutting-edge education and innovative technology solutions. Preservation and digitization services give members the capability to participate fully in the digital future and safeguard their collections, while reliable support services make LYRASIS essential to members on a daily basis. More than products and services, however, LYRASIS provides crucial leadership in a challenging time and the power of a community working together on solutions.

Why LYRASIS?
Our name was inspired by the constellation of Lyra which hosts one of the galaxy's brightest stars and guiding lights, and the suffix sis can designate a process, often associated with change (as in metamorphosis). Together, they position LYRASIS as your guide through the ever-changing world of information services.
