Advocacy: What is it? (Live Online)

This two-hour distance learning session introduces the concepts of advocacy and will lays the foundation for the following three sessions in this track.

Description:

What exactly is advocacy? And how do we become advocates? The first class in the advocacy track introduces the concepts and practice of advocacy and lays the foundation for the next three classes in the track. This is a two-hour live online course.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this class, participants will be able to:

  • Answer the following questions. 

        Is advocacy something I need to do? 
        Why is advocacy needed for libraries? 
        How can I become an advocate?

  • Define Advocacy and determine who can be a library advocate.
  • Discuss ways to advocate for sustainable funding.

Anyone interested in learning basic concepts to become a library advocate.
