Description:
During this four-hour online, 2 part class, students will learn the fundamentals of reference service. It is not unusual for information seekers to be assisted by library assistants, paraprofessionals, student assistants, and other categories of library staff. With many libraries trending towards blended service points, merging the reference desk with other access services, this is becoming more common all the time. Library staff who find themselves in the position of being the service provider may wish to acquire or refresh some of the fundamental skills of reference service, or simply increase their confidence in performing these functions. If this sounds like you, then this class is for you!
