Google is not only a search engine, but also offers a collection of very useful reference, developer, communication, and productivity tools. This live online, hands-on workshop will introduce you to a number of Google tools including iGoogle, Google custom search engines, Google docs, special searches, and more. We all know something about Google; at the end of this session you’ll take your understanding of Google tools to the next level.
Learning Outcomes - at the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
> Conduct advanced searches using the Google basic and advanced search tools
> Build an iGoogle page to collect and organize your most useful tools and gadgets
> Create a custom Google search engine
> Search Google Books to find book content, identify book information, and locate a book in a library or from a book seller Use Google docs to store and share documents

Intended Audience:
Reference and other library staff members who are familiar with Google’s basic searching features and tools, but want to learn about new and more advanced tools that can be used to enhance one’s reference skills and provide valuable services to library patrons.
Prerequisites:
Ability to use a browser; some experience using Internet search engines
