Come learn why MARC is the foundation for all library catalogs. This full-day session introduces the MARC record, its formats and structure and its use in many different systems. The class consists of lecture, demonstration and exercises. Topics include history of the MARC format, applications of the MARC record, the fixed and variable fields, differences among record formats and which fields can be searched and how.

Intended Audience:

Paraprofessional and professional staff in acquisitions, cataloging, interlibrary loan and reference.
