Description:
This workshop teaches you to analyze the structure of MARC records, and to identify the components of the bibliographic records in the OCLC’s WorldCat and in the Connexion Cataloging service. Participants will also learn to code the fixed field and variable fields of a bibliographic record.
Learning Outcomes - at the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Analyze the structure of Machine-Readable Cataloging (MARC) Records
- Identify major MARC tags
- Code important fields of an OCLC bibliographic record

Intended Audience:
Catalogers and Technical services staff who want to learn the basics about MARC records. Reference Staff who use WorldCat regularly can also benefit from learning the basics of MARC records.
