Description:
During this four-hour online, two- part class, students will be introduced to copy cataloging principles, as well as specific procedures for searching, editing and taking final actions with bibliographic records in OCLC Connexion Browser. Hands-on exercises are included.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of class students will be able to:
- Understand OCLC copy cataloging concepts
- Search for and choose matching catalog records
- Edit catalog records using Connexion Browser procedures and tools
- Perform authority control and use constant data
- Produce records
- Understand database maintenance and workflows within Connexion Browser

Intended Audience:
New copy cataloging staff or copy catalogers unfamiliar with OCLC Cataloging. This class is also appropriate for staff who want to refresh their copy-cataloging skills.
Prerequisites:
Strongly recommended: familiarity with OCLC Connexion search techniques, and a basic understanding of the MARC record.

Registrations for this class must be received at least one week before the class date. Registrants should receive an email offering detailed login and setup instructions. This course is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
