OCLC™ WorldCat Resource Sharing Basics (Live Online)

This three day, two hour per day live online class offers searching basics; tips on selecting the best record; instruction on creating, producing, and responding to ILL requests; ILL etiquette; and more.

This class combines Successful Searcher in WorldCat Resource Sharing and WorldCat Resource Sharing.  It offers searching basics; tips on selecting the best record; instruction on creating, producing, and responding to ILL requests; ILL etiquette; and more. The six-hour session will be offered online in two-hour increments for three successive days.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Interpret the basic ILL workflow
  • Effectively search the WorldCat database for Interlibrary Loan
  • Create and manage Constant Data
  • Update and manage ILL Policies Directory
  • Create, produce, and update ILL requests as a borrower
  • Respond to and update ILL requests as a lender

ILL practitioners interested in learning the basics of ILL and how to use OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing to manage your ILL workflow.

Registrations for this class must be received at least one week before the class date. Registrants should receive an email offering detailed login and setup instructions. Please call the Educational Services Department at 800.999.8558 if you do not receive this email at least three days before the class. This course is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
