Description:
Interlibrary loan staff sometimes get requests for materials that are obscure or hard to find. This class emphasizes searching techniques, archival collections, scientific information, the “deep web,” government information, and hard-to-find newspapers and periodicals.
This full-day class uses practical resource sharing scenarios to teach students how to use a variety of search tools to find elusive material requested by interlibrary loan patrons. Frequent citation problems will be addressed, including effective searching and citation tracing for materials, and strategies for working with other libraries to make arrangements to acquire information outside the traditional ILL transaction.
