Technical Requirements for Distance Education Courses (Centra, Adobe Captivate)

Windows System Requirements:

• The ability to download a small plug-in during initial set-up. You may download this plug-in here: Centra 7 Plug-in
  

• Windows 2000 (SP4), Windows XP Professional (SP2) or Windows XP Home Edition

• Netscape 7.2 or later, Internet Explorer 5.5 or later, Mozilla Firefox 1.5+

• 28.8 kbps or faster Internet connection

• P350+ MHz, 128+ MB memory

• 40 MB free space

• 16-bit color; 800x600 or higher display resolution

• JavaScript enabled in your browser

• Java Virtual Machine version 4.79.2339 or higher (Sun Java is recommended)- only for Firefox and Netscape

• Sound card

• Speakers

Optional System Requirements:

• Microphone

 

Windows Vista System Requirements:

• Windows Vista 1.0
• Quicktime 7.2
• Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2+
• 28.8 kbps or faster Internet connection
• P350+ MHz, 128+ MB memory
• 16-bit color; 800x600 or higher display resolution.

• On Windows Vista 32 bit or 64 bit platforms

• Note: There are known issues with the recordings of classes with Vista! Microsoft has a patch in the works (as of 9/2007).

To check your browser version, open the browser, click "Help" on the menu bar and then click "About [Browser Name]."

Monitor resolution set to 1024 x 768. To check resolution, right-click on your PC's desktop, choose "Properties," choose the "Settings" tab and modify resolution under “Screen area.”

Self-Paced Courses (Adobe Captivate):

Students should have the following installed on their computers:

> A Flash-enabled browser (for example, Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or later, Netscape Navigator 4.06 or Netscape 6.0 or later
OR
> Flash Player (version 6.0 or later). This may be downloaded for free from www.adobe.com.
> Speakers and sound card
> Internet connection
