Classes and Events
Basic Library Preservation Track
The basic library preservation track is a series of classes designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the core concepts, issues and infrastructure needed for libraries to proactively care for their collections. Topics covered in the core classes include basic book repair and care of library materials, developing a disaster plan/ disaster preparedness, environmental monitoring, introduction to preservation and preservation management, and evaluating preservation products and services. Elective classes cover topics such as preservation of photographs, oral histories, ephemera, audiovisual and oversized materials; as well as protection of materials from mold, fire, security threats, and construction. This track includes face-to-face, self-paced, and online classes.
