Cataloging Alert: Get Ready for RDA

BooksResource Description and Access (RDA) is about to be tested by the Library of Congress, the other US national libraries, and a number of additional libraries. At the end of the testing period, the Library of Congress and other US national libraries will decide whether or not to implement RDA and replace the current cataloging rules found in Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, Second Edition (AARCR2). For more, click here.

"LYRASIS is keeping a close eye on RDA developments," said Jennifer Bielewski, educational services librarian at LYRASIS. "Once a firm decision has been made by the Library of Congress and other US national libraries, LYRASIS will integrate any changes in cataloging rules or the implementation of RDA, within all of our Educational Services classes."

LYRASIS currently offers two classes to help prepare members for RDA: Changes Ahead with AACR2, RDA, and FRBR and FRBR, FRAD and RDA: An Overview and Update.

Please stay tuned to LYRASIS News for more RDA updates. For RDA FAQs,  click here.
