Description:
As curators, archivists, librarians, managers, and directors, we have an obligation to protect our collections, the building that houses our collections, and the property that we use to make our collections accessible to our users.
Risk management involves the identification, quantification and reduction of risks for human, physical, and financial loss. This class will supply you with tools to identify vulnerabilities, calculate potential risks to the collections and other property, avoid and reduce potential dangers, and minimize loss to your building and the collections. By providing you with risk assessment tools, resources to help determine the value of collections, security procedures and protocols, and basic emergency preparedness and response tools, this class will prepare you to understand your role and responsibilities in risk management.
