Description:

This two-hour online class will help you lay some of the basic groundwork needed to implement Dublin Core metadata in your institution. For those familiar with MARC or other cataloging schema we will discuss how Dublin Core can be integrated into your workflow.

By the end of this class, students will be able to:

  • Understand the basic Dublin Core elements
  • Identify best practices within the field
  • Describe to administration how Dublin Core metadata can be used efficiently and effectively within the library environment

Instructor: Sam Eddington

Sam Eddington is the Program Leader for Lyrasis Learning. He holds an MLS from Southern Connecticut State University, and a BA in English (Creative Writing) from the University of Houston. He has presented widely to information professionals on topics such as unconferences, job searching and hiring, programming for adults, library history, and performance evaluations.






This class is ideal for catalogers, volunteer catalogers and those who want to acquire or refresh some knowledge of Dublin Core. It is also ideal for anyone simply interested in knowing more about the schema and how it may be applied in all kinds of digital projects.
