LYRASIS Trending Topics - A University Press Walks Into a Library…
Live Online $0.00 / $25.00

What happens when the university press, traditionally an independent business unit of the university, moves under the jurisdiction of the library? What does library publishing mean in this new context? This session will explore reasons the press would be placed within the library, and opportunities and challenges arise from these kinds of relationships. The session will be a co-presentation by Emily Farrell, Library Sales Executive at MIT Press (under the purview of MIT Libraries), and Emma DiPasquale, Engagement Manager at Michigan Publishing (under the purview of University of Michigan Libraries).

Emily Farrell is the Library Sales Executive for MIT Press where she manages North American library relations. She holds a PhD in Sociolinguistics from Macquarie University, Sydney, where she has an ongoing affiliation working with the Language on the Move research group. She serves on the board of the immigrant legal services non-profit, UnLocal, as well as the Foundation for the Yonkers Public Library.
