Description:

The Palace Project is a new non-profit platform which places libraries at the forefront of the econtent landscape. Through its namesake mobile app and Marketplace, the Palace Project enables libraries to increase access to e-content without increasing their budgets. In this session we’ll cover the Palace Project app: what it is, how it works, and what makes it special. In addition to an app demonstration, we’ll discuss the Palace Bookshelf, our collection of over 15,000 openly licensed titles, and the special licensing models and unique content available in the Palace Marketplace. Join us to learn more about how libraries are highlighting whole collections over holds queues with the Palace Project!

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this class, students will be able to:

Identify how to locate, download, and utilize the Palace Project app
Discuss how the Palace app is unique from other e-reading platforms
Discuss how alternative licensing models can address budgetary constraints and increase diversity within digital collections
Articulate how they can utilize the Palace platform and Palace app to aggregate digital collections to increase discovery.
