Process Makes Perfect: A Guide to Open Source Governance and Consensus

No sessions are currently scheduled for this event. To request a new session, please contact membersupport@lyrasis.org

Description:

In this one hour session, Jennie Rose Halperin from Mozilla will present how to prevent being a bottleneck to Open Source projects and clearly articulate governance structures and decision-making processes in order to design for more sustained, long term, positive contributions for Open Source. As Scott Berkun writes in The Year Without Pants: Wordpress.com and the Future of Work, "The bottleneck is never code or creativity; it's lack of clarity." At Mozilla, the phrase "Designing for Participation" is used to describe how we can invite people into our communities through open dialogue, clear participation pathways, and thoughtful practice. From coding to event planning, all parts of open source organizations can benefit from using the principles of non-violent communication and facilitation to make their organizations flourish and grow.
