Altmetrics in the Library: Understanding Librarian Roles and Outreach Efforts in the Academic Landscape (For LYRASIS Members)

No sessions are currently scheduled for this event. To request a new session, please contact

One of the biggest concerns that librarians have with the field of altmetrics is that its innovations seem to be driven primarily by vendors and toolmakers, rather than the needs of faculty and researchers. But are librarians and faculty really passive members of the altmetrics conversation? In this third and final webinar, Rachel Borchardt & Robin Chin Roemer, authors of the recent book Meaningful Metrics, look at altmetrics from the perspective of librarians. In addition to practical tips & examples, the presenters will address the current state of altmetrics, what’s being done to support altmetrics in libraries, and future changes to altmetrics, especially as such changes will impact academic libraries. Questions and interaction are both expected and encouraged.

Presenters:Rachel Borchardt, Science Librarian, American University and Robin Chin Roemer, Instructional Design & Outreach Services Librarian, University of Washington
