Professor Alayan earned her Masters in Library Science (MLIS) with a certificate in Law Librarianship from the University of Washington School of Information. She graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law with certificates in the International Law and Pro Bono programs. Throughout her career Professor Alayan has served in various leadership positions in the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), the International Association of Law Libraries (IALL), and the American Society of International Law (ASIL). She is also an active member at the local level within the Law Librarians Society of Washington, DC (LLSDC), where she has held leadership positions on the LLSDC board. In 2019 she was recognized by her peers at the national level as the recipient of the prestigious American Association of Law Libraries Emerging Leader award.
Her research interests include information literacy, access to justice, leadership, and change management.
