OAPEN and DOAB are not-for-profit foundations that have been in operation for more than ten years. Both infrastructures are based on the open source DSpace platform. The OAPEN Library hosts about 20,000 peer-reviewed OA books and chapters, generating more than 11 million downloads annually. DOAB aggregates metadata for about 50,000 peer-reviewed OA books and chapters from over 550 publishers worldwide. Both foundations rely on contributions from research institutions, funders, and publishers to carry out their respective mission.
