DOAB and OAPEN Library Supporter Programs

Vendor: DOAB-OAPEN

The Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) and OAPEN Library are not-for-profit foundations that have been in operation for more than ten years, working together to support the transition to Open Access for books.
  • DOAB aggregates metadata for around 65,000 peer-reviewed OA books and chapters from over 550 publishers worldwide.
  • The OAPEN Library hosts about 25,000 peer-reviewed OA books and chapters generating more than 11 million downloads annually.
Both foundations rely on contributions from research institutions, funders, and publishers to carry out their mission and are seeking the library community’s help to sustain their services.

Benefits of Participation in the DOAB/OAPEN Library Combined Supporter Program

When contributing to DOAB and OAPEN Library, your institution invests in the long-term sustainability of open, reliable, and truly global infrastructure services for open access (OA) scholarly books.

In addition, your organization will benefit from the following services for contributors:

  • Free hosting, distribution and preservation service in the OAPEN Library for publishing entities affiliated with the contributing institution. Publishing entities, such as a University Press, that are affiliated with an OAPEN Library member institution will have all their publisher fees for the OAPEN Library waived.
  • Metadata integration. Contributors are entitled to customized feeds, integrating the metadata of OAPEN and DOAB collections of OA books in MARC21 or other formats. Also available through knowledge bases, such as Ex Libris Primo, OCLC WorldCat, and EBSCO Discovery Service.
  • Analytics Dashboard. OAPEN provides an analytics dashboard for each of its supporting libraries. Via the dashboard libraries can access COUNTER-conformant usage data and reports for institutional (IP-based) and geolocation (regional) usage for the OAPEN Library.
  • Have your say. Contributors are invited to give input to the continued development of the OAPEN and DOAB services on a yearly basis, and can join its library working group(s).
  • Acknowledgment of contributors on the DOAB and OAPEN websites and through DOAB and OAPEN twitter accounts.
  • New title alerts. Create custom queries to be alerted when new titles become available in the OAPEN Library.
