Library Edge Initiative
LYRASIS is proud to be a part of the Library Edge Initiative, a national coalition of thirteen organizations, that is working to develop guidelines that will define quality technology services at libraries and how to continuously improve them to motivate local re-investment in public technology at libraries. These resulting guidelines, or benchmarks, are intended to support libraries in their efforts to create long-term plans to develop and sustain public access technology for their patrons and communities.
The project will be completed in three stages:
- drafting of prototype benchmarks including feedback from library practitioners and local government officials;
- testing the initial set of benchmarks in California, Oklahoma and Texas;
final refinement of the benchmarks and launch.
At this time, the coalition is working to complete the draft benchmarks, and they will be made public in the coming months.
