Open Access & Public Domain Collections

The Palace Project implementations include the configuration of free eBooks collections from the Public Domain, Open Access Libraries and Open Access Publishers. Some collections can be added in their entirety while some give you the option to include certain publishers, subject areas, genres or audiences.

Commercial eBook Platform Integrations

Commercial trade eBook and audiobook platforms are used almost exclusively by public libraries to purchase and serve eBooks.  LYRASIS can integrate most of these eBook distribution services and their various implementations into SimplyE so that your users can borrow and read eBooks from all your eBooks and audiobooks in one simple app in three clicks or fewer. Because all your titles are in one collection, your users do not have to install and learn multiple apps to find eBooks and audiobooks. Multiple eBook services can be configured even if your library has access to different accounts (such as a shared collection) by the same vendor. The following platforms can be integrated by LYRASIS for your library as needed.

  • Overdrive: Overdrive provides a marketplace for libraries to purchase and deliver eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and video to patrons through their online catalog and Libby mobile app.  Some titles can also be accessed on Amazon devices and apps. SimplyE supports both eBooks and audiobooks from Overdrive as well as Overdrive Advantage and Overdrive Advantage Plus accounts.
  • Bibliotheca cloudLibrary: Bibliotheca cloudLibrary provides a marketplace for libraries to purchase and deliver ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and comics to patrons through their online catalog, and cloudLibrary mobile app. SimplyE supports both eBooks and audiobooks from cloudLibrary as well as Cloud Link.
  • Axis 360: Axis 360 by Baker & Taylor provides Title Source 360 for eBooks, audiobooks, and print materials in one marketplace. eBooks and Audiobooks are available for borrowing and reading on their Axis 360 mobile app and online via their Axis Online streaming reader. SimplyE supports both eBooks and audiobooks from Axis 360.
  • Biblioboard: Biblioboard provides a platform for libraries to subscribe to collections and titles under perpetual, simultaneous geolocated access. Content is accessed online via their web platform and mobile app. Biblioboard provides additional services to libraries to allow self published works to be made available and nationally for local authors via self-collection. SimplyE supports eBooks from Biblioboard.
  • DPLA Exchange Marketplace: DPLA Marketplace is a free service libraries can use to acquire trade eBooks and audiobooks that they can serve through The Palace Project app. Titles can be acquired with multiple license options. DPLA also allows a library to selectively add content from over 10,000 titles in their Open Bookshelf collections for free that are perpetual and simultaneous use. Subscriptions from Biblioboard, including its Self e-titles are also available.
